Emily has a 22-year background in training and development, career and academic
counseling, and college teaching. She has worked for non-profits, state
and local government, and in the insurance industry. She is a Licensed Professional
Counselor in Virginia and has a Ph.D. in Social/Organizational Psychology
from The Union Institute in Cincinnati, OH.
Her management consulting and training interests focus on developing leaders at all levels of the organization. She is a frequent presenter on various topics related to leadership, including interpersonal communications, customer service, teambuilding, conflict management, performance management, and navigating change. She has exemplary human relations and communications skills and is a dynamic presenter. In helping clients achieve their goals, she utilizes assessment instruments, training services, group facilitation, coaching, research, and advising. She is also a regular conference speaker for keynote and plenary sessions.
Emily is the author of The Manager’s Pocket Guide to Emotional Intelligence, published in 2000 by HRD Press. She is also the author of Leadership Foundations, a comprehensive leadership training program for first-level leaders which has shown outstanding results; it is a CEU program of James Madison University in Virginia. She has also published a number of professional papers and academic curriculum materials related to psychology, management, and applied research.
She has taught a wide variety of college courses, for traditional students and adults in both management and psychology and currently teaches part-time at Eastern Mennonite University (Harrisonburg, VA) in the Management and Organizational Development adult degree completion program.
Emily is very active in professional association, church, and community activities. She is committed to seeing that her clients receive tangible value from partnering with her.
